Dr. Marie Akers, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, PPCNP-BC, PMHS is the founder and medical director of SHIELD Psychiatry PLLC — a concierge child and adolescent telepsychiatry practice based in Lutz, FL, serving children, teens, and young adults ages 5–25 across Tampa Bay and all of Florida.
Triple board-certified in psychiatric mental health, pediatric primary care, and pediatric mental health specialty practice, Dr. Akers brings 20+ years of clinical experience spanning pediatric neurology, developmental pediatrics, and behavioral health. Haitian-born and raised in the U.S., she draws on her cultural roots and faith to provide compassionate, evidence-based, and culturally responsive psychiatric care for children, teens, and young adults across Florida.
Dr. Akers specializes in ADHD evaluation with QbCheck™ objective testing, anxiety and mood disorder treatment, autism spectrum disorder psychiatric support, CBT-I sleep therapy for insomnia in children and teens, ADHD medication management, and parent coaching — all delivered via telehealth with no referral required across Tampa Bay, Lutz, and all of Florida.
